Finishing a Little Restoration Project

When someone tells me that they are restoring something my first thought is that they are restoring a car.  I dream of them taking something old, rusty and neglected and bringing out the beauty in such a way that it looks new again.  I know that most of my friends feel the same way, so when I told them I was working on a restoration project of my own, they asked to see the car I was working on.

There was no car involved in my project.

In fact, I was working on something a little different.

For about five years now I have owned a cabin at a lake just a few short hours from here.  I bought it at an auction sale with just about all of my savings, sight unseen, and I have yet to stay the night there.  The reason that I haven’t used it up until this point is the fact that there is a bit of a mold problem thanks to some flooding at the lake a few years ago and it hasn’t been safe to stay there.

But I have been working a mold restoration project there to try and get it back into a livable condition.  It has been an educational experience, a lot of work and it has been risky, but I know the reward will be worth all of the sacrifices that I have made.  I am hoping that I will be able to get the entire project finished here by the end of the month so that I can enjoy my weekends out at the lake next summer.

I will be so happy when this project is over.
